Yoga After Trauma
Moving through loss is not meant to be easy. It is necessary, and I am
grateful to be able to help women and families move through transitions
and deep sadness, and help them find a way to welcome the possibility
of great joy in their lives again. I hope that some of the learning
from my own miscarriage, and my time helping my 10 year old son survive
a severe brain injury this past summer will be useful to you as you
confront the challenge of gaining solid self-awareness of the life you
have now. Using the therapeutic tools and ancient wisdom of yoga, I
look forward to working with women and families seeking integration and
release of a grievous experience, and creation of new love and life
every day.
Tina Lilly is a certified yoga instructor who has taught yoga and
meditation to pregnant women for five years. She is called to working
with individuals who have gone through trauma and loss, and is building
her practice as a yoga therapist. She is open to starting a class for
women and/or men who have experienced a loss. She can be contacted at tina@mamananda.com or (503)
731-0941.
Fertility Support Group
Trying to conceive for more than a few months is difficult for most
women, doing it after already having a loss, I find is even more
challenging. Join me, Julie Endress, and other women focused on
fertility on the 2nd
and 4th Tuesdays at
7pm, 7625 SE 18th Ave.,
Portland.

Whether trying on
your own, with reproductive technology and/or the
help of an acupuncturist, this group offers a friendly and relaxed
atmosphere. The purpose is threefold:
* to have a sense of not being in this alone and receive encouragement;
* a chance to express what the experience is like; and
* share what we have learned about fertility and ourselves.
The group is not exclusively for women who have experienced a
loss. It is a group exclusively for women who are trying to conceive
(their first, second (or more) child) and after sincere
congratulations, those who are successful in achieving pregnancy are
asked to discontinue attendance. The intent is to provide positive
support for the many aspects of self-care that are critical to our
bodies welcoming a new baby into our lives.

About
Us
Brief Encounters is a nonprofit, nonsectarian group for
parents whose babies have died before, during, or after birth. Brief
Encounters provides meetings in the greater Portland, Oregon area and
local phone support. At informal, mutually supportive meetings,
bereaved parents and their families share their stories, discuss issues
that arise around pregnancy and infant loss, and remember their
children. Through talking or just listening, we learn what grief is and
how, through understanding and caring, we heal.
