Love Gifts to Brief Encounters may be given in loving memory of children who have died, in gratitude for living children, or as general gifts to further our support of bereaved parents. We acknowledge all gifts without reference to amount in the monthly newsletter. Your gift, large or small, will go toward printing our brochures and booklets for area hospitals and clinics, maintaining this web site, providing monthly meetings, reaching out to the provider community, mailing newsletters, and various other efforts. Brief Encounters is run entirely by volunteers. We greatly appreciate your generosity.

If you are interested in volunteering behind the scenes or directly with other bereaved parents, the following opportunities may be of interest to you.  Time commitments and training vary by position. If you have an idea of a volunteer role that is not listed, please reach out!

• Board Member

• Newsletter: Preparing and emailing our monthly newsletter

• Noah’s Quest: planning and day-of support (manning a booth, bringing supplies, directing runners, etc.)

• Holiday Remembrance Ceremonies: perform a song or reading, be a greeter, provide snacks, craft tables, help set up and clean up

• Cards: send cards to bereaved families on anniversaries

• Telephone Facilitator: retrieve messages from our message line a minimum of once a week, return calls or pass along messages as needed.

For the following opportunities, volunteers must be at least three years out from their loss, have attended meeting regularly, and gone through our facilitator training.

• Meeting Facilitator: facilitate our support meetings for bereaved parents.

• Backup Meeting Facilitator: act as a support person to the facilitator and facilitate meetings when the regular facilitator cannot attend.
